Farewell Mrs Sio!

We have been very fortunate to have Mrs Sio join us as a student teacher in her 3rd year from Auckland University. She joined us in the last two weeks of Term 2, then completed 5 weeks of full control this term. We have been very fortunate to have Mrs Sio with us as she has built a great rapport with students in our Room 5 home class, literacy class and numeracy class. Here's an awesome ending to what has been a great practicum. Thank you Mrs Sio! Hope to see you back again soon!

Geometry - 2D drawings and 3D models

Hey bloggers! Today Room 5 maths class did some Geometry! We were asked by Mrs Ilaoa, if we could build/create a mini rocket using some square/cube shaped blocks! We simply picked out some cubes for our creation and started building! My one had six shapes on the outer side then 5 going down and so on until 1! You can see on this image here! :
If you cannot see my image try zooming up!
Me drawing a side view of the building!

Anyways we then opened up our maths books and started drawing what our rocket ship would look like from different side views such as a : bird's eye view, a perspective view, and upside down view and more! To build/create a building simply put some blocks together and on top of each other!

You can use different colours and also make some patterns in your shape! I did also make some patterns with my shape by simply adding the blocks from 6 blocks, to 5 blocks, to 4 blocks, until 1 block

It was really fun doing geometry and I will post more about geometry on my learning evidence, which will be coming up soon.

See you later!

Thanks for reading!

Team 5 Speech Finals

Last Friday on the 25th of August there was a speech final in team 5. During the middle block in literacy the top three people in each class was getting ready to say their speech in front of the whole of team 5! Can you
imagine how nervous they could have been? At around 12 every class sat down in the street (Team 5's meeting
area) in our home class lines. There were 3 students in every class, that got chosen, there are 5 classes. So
altogether were 15 people who read
their speeches.

There were 2 beautiful judges, Mrs Judd and Ms Tapuke! They were also filming the speeches. There are two people who will get chosen to say their speech in front of Pt England School. I think that Amelia's speech was good, Mubashshir's speech was kind of like a comedy speech. I was looking forward to listening to Venetia and Yvonne's speeches. Their ones were great too! We are going to find out who is going to be reading their speeches today (Monday, 28th).

Production craze!

Last week, all our Year 7s and some of our year 8 students went along to the AGGS matinee for their production - Grease! This was perfect timing as this term, our school is also putting on a school production. We were all so excited and it was really cool to see some of our past pupils from Pt England doing their thang on stage. Here is a short snippet we shared with the school on PENN.
